We'll Take Care of Your Tires So Your Tires Can Take Care of You

At the Volvo Cars West County Service Center, we know your tires face more daily wear and tear than almost any other component on your car. Your tires have to make it across miles of hot pavement, cold pavement, bumpy pavement and sometimes, no pavement at all. That's why tire maintenance is so important to us: Because ultimately, it's important for you and your family. Here are some ways we can help your tires stay in good condition.

Tire Rotation

As you know, a tire rotation is simply moving each wheel to a different place on your vehicle, to help tires wear more evenly. Ask your Volvo Cars West County service specialist about frequency, but for most cars, tires should be rotated every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. That might be about how often you do an oil change, so let us rearrange your tires then. At the same time, we'll inspect your tires to catch any uneven tire wear.

Proper Inflation

Another good tire maintenance technique is checking air pressure as often as once a month. The correct tire pressure for your car is usually shown in the owner's manual or on a sticker located on the driver side front door. If tires are under-inflated, your vehicle will be less fuel-efficient, your tires can wear out faster and you might even face a dangerous blowout.

Tread Depth and Alignment

The tread on your tires allows your vehicle to grip the road and helps you maintain control. If the grooves in the tire are worn down, you won't have proper contact with the road. To test your tire tread, use the "Quarter Test." Insert a quarter into the tire tread. If you can see all of George Washington's head, your tire tread is at or below 4/32"and that means the tire needs to be replaced. In addition, give your car an alignment check at least once a year to assure proper steering and avoid uneven tire wear.

New Tire Replacement

Before your tires wear down into the unsafe range, get them replaced with quality new tires from Volvo Cars West County. We can provide a good choice of new tires with a nice range of name brands, warranties and prices. Meanwhile, have your tires inspected regularly at Volvo Cars West County in Manchester, MO and make sure you can keep traveling safely.
